• The western area between Ladakh on the Indian side and the Tibet and Xinjiang self-ruling districts on the Chinese side. This area was the area of the 2020 China–India engagements. 

• The center, generally undisputed area among Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh on the Indian side and the Tibet self-governing locale on the Chinese side. 

• The eastern area between Arunachal Pradesh on the Indian side and the Tibet self-governing district on the Chinese side. This area for the most part follows the McMahon Line.
